The Misty Side Oil 36×24

Through the mist this land I see,
Though real, it seems a fantasy.
Nature has its powers spread
Beyond the scenes that sunshine read.

Here within adobe walls
A kitchen shelf holds bottles tall,
Filled with oils and secret things,
Blessed with luck the fetish brings.

Beams above adobe walls
Hold ladles, herbs, that they not fall.
Below them stand the special bins
For cooking stuff and baking tins.
Ladles and Bottles Oil 16×20

The Pest Oil 28×22

Fly!
You cannot on my petal sit,
No shirt, no shoes, no tie...
You tickle and your eyes and feet
I simply can't abide!

"...life...
scattered abroad in sparsenesss and simplicity...
so that the living organism stands out
bold and brave and vivid
against the lifeless sand..."
Edward Abbey
Treasure of the Sands Oil 16×12

Three Generations Oil 24×16

In the garden I see
Generations, all three
Each holding a space amongst.
It takes all of them
To create and to blend,
To keep order, reach life's destiny.

Mariah slammed you to the earth,
The gray dirt held you tight,
The sky begged for your silhouette,
You answered...
You fought with all your might!
A Twist of Fate Oil 16×12

At Timberline Oil 30×20

A fire swept across the ridge
Leaving tragedy behind,
The Englemanns were charred and burned,
No longer trees sublime.

Today they stand in evidence,
But awesome, polished, tall.
As nature made them statuesque,
Magnificent, one and all.
